The 5th International Conference on Electrochemical Energy Systems (ICEES2024), which lasted for three days, was successfully held in Nanjing from November 8th to 10th, 2024. More than 800 experts, scholars, entrepreneurs, investors, and other professionals from various fields across the country participated in this conference.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Wu Yuping of Southeast University. Pan Fusheng, a professor of Chongqing University, chairman of Chongqing Association for Science and Technology, and academician of the CAE Member, Professor Ma Zifeng, president of Shaoxing Institute of New Energy and Molecular Engineering of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Professor Xiao Rui, president of School of Energy and Environment of Southeast University, and Professor Ma Tinghuai, vice president of Jiangsu Ocean University attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.







Academician Pan Fusheng warmly welcomed the experts, scholars, graduate students, entrepreneurs, and investors attending the conference, and pointed out that electrochemical energy systems, as an important pillar of future energy development, cover two core systems: electrochemical energy storage and energy conversion. It has shown broad application prospects in many cutting-edge fields such as electric vehicles, hydrogen energy, mobile communications, smart energy networks, rail transit, aerospace and military industries, and will play an irreplaceable role in promoting the achievement of the "dual carbon" goal.
Professor Ma Zifeng expresses sincere gratitude to the organizers, organizers, co organizers, guiding units, and expert representatives attending this conference. He pointed out that advanced power batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells, and many new types of electrochemical energy are constantly emerging in the field of electrochemical energy, and the application of these products ultimately boils down to a system. Systematic communication is possible, and these technological platforms are very important. Therefore, I believe that through the exchange at the International Conference on Electrochemical Energy Systems, we can promote the application of electrochemical energy systems in a wider range of fields.
Professor Xiao Rui stated that the current global new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation is accelerating, and the energy revolution is flourishing. Renewable energy represented by wind, solar, and biomass plays a more prominent role in supporting economic and social development. Vigorously developing electrochemical energy storage systems and electrochemical energy conversion systems to promote efficient utilization of renewable energy has become a strategic consensus and concerted action for global energy transformation.
Professor Ma Yanhuai stated that electrochemical energy is not only a key technology for promoting energy transformation, but also an important lever for achieving national strategic goals and addressing global climate change challenges. With the proposal of the "dual carbon" plan, the position of electrochemical energy has become increasingly prominent. This requires us to seize opportunities, vigorously promote technological innovation and industrial layout, and actively promote the clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient modern energy system.
